Give your Facebook Page a Real Estate Tab with the Roost Social Media Toolkit

This Facebook marketing tip relates to the official pages marketing tool in Facebook. For clarification on where this tip fits into the greater Facebook marketing picture, please view our post Facebook Foundations: Facebook’s Marketing Tools Explained.

Much like Apple has an apps store where iPhone and iPad users can download applications that extend the functionality of their device, Facebook allows 3rd party developers to create applications that extend the core functionality of Facebook.  As a result, a host of real estate applications have been developed to address the specific needs of the real estate community.

Not to be overlooked is the leading solution real estate solution, the Roost Real Estate Tool Kit.  The Roost Real Estate Tool Kit is a must have install for any real estate agent who has a Facebook official (aka fan or business) page.  Installing the Roost Real Estate Tool Kit adds a “Real Estate” Tab on your Facebook page that has the following features, all for free:

  • A spot to add your personal photo, your contact information, and customized marketing copy that promotes you and your business
  • The ability for you to display your featured listings.  This is a great way to be able to tell your sellers “I’ve posted your listing on Facebook”.  Posting listings on your profile wall tab is against the terms of service in Facebook so having this outlet on your official page where it is legal to promote your product gives agents a way to legally post their listings to Facebook in a way that is supported by the terms of service.
  • Market statistics for your area including a market trends chart and a basic statistical summary of real estate in your market.
  • School information such as the districts and the average student/teacher ratio
  • Walk Score for your area which measures how walkable an address is based on the distance to nearby amenities.
  • The Roost Publisher which allows you to schedule posts to your page.  This is a great time management and efficiency feature for Realtors who want to plan out the content that is to appear on their page during a week. This is a very important feature as it is clear that the most effective Facebook pages have fresh content on a regular basis.  Pre-scheduling your content can help a busy Realtor to run a more successful page.

Here is an example of the Roost Social Media Toolkit installed on REALTOR Heather Elias’ Facebook Page:

Adding this Real Estate tab is a great, professional way to reinforce your role as a real estate agent.  You can even set the Real Estate tab as the default landing tab on your page so that this is the first page people who are new to your page see when they land on it.  Check out our prior tip on how to change the default landing tab on your page.

Roost provides all of the above features for free to real estate agents.  They also have a premium product which gives you expanded functionality including the ability to provide real estate information for more than one geographic area and drive visitors to your home search IDX as this example from REALTOR Jane Jimenez McFarland illustrates:

You can add the Roost Social Media Toolkit to your page by going to Roost.com or going directly to the Roost application in Facebook.

Have you installed the Roost Real Estate Toolkit on your page yet?  Do you use it as your default landing tab?  Share your experience with this Facebook app with us.
